Are you one of the 72 percent of people who would happily commute for up to an hour in exchange for living in the countryside? In a survey undertaken by Yorkshire Bank, nearly three quarters of UK citizens polled said that they would gladly commute if given the opportunity to live a rustic existence, Aboutproperty.co.uk reported today.
Those polled cited various reasons for wanting to relocate to countryside. According to the article, a primary benefit as noted by 59 percent of those interviewed was improved health. Relocating out of the city would reduce exposure to smoke and other unhealthy emissions, say homeowners. Furthermore, many rustic areas offer better schooling and a slower pace of life, which is appealing to many stressed and overworked individuals.
Speaking to Aboutproperty.co.uk, Yorkshire Banks head of retail, Gary Lumby, explained that many buyers are searching for the ideal location in which to raise a family rather than buying a home, renovating it, and moving a few years later.
Potential buyers are savvier than ever and are really doing their homework when it comes to finding the perfect location to buy, said Lumby. In contrast to the recent trend of buying, improving and moving on, many buyers are concentrating on finding a home where they can settle long-term, and build a future for themselves and their family.
